We recently read an amazing study by Buffer on whether you should be using square or landscape video in your social media video marketing campaigns. We’re all about making data driven decisions, so it’s worth a read for one simple reason:

Square video (1:1) takes up 78% more real estate in a person’s mobile newsfeed than does landscape video (16:9)

Ok, two simple reasons:

Square video outperformed landscape video on each social media network in terms of video views, engagement (likes, comments, and shares), and completion rate (%).

In some cases, square video resulted in 30-35% higher video views and an 80-100% increase in engagement.
